Considering how hard it is to fire teachers, the automatic raises, pension and benefits, many teachers are compensated quite well. In MCPS, 85% of teachers have been there for 5 or more years and half have been there for at least 15 years. If the pay was so bad they would not be able to retain teachers this well. [/quote]
