They do, they can continue to complain about it and ask for AP but they don’t. There are people who like IB for the program, there are others who like that the classes are smaller because fewer kids want to take them.

The people who pupil place out every year at SLHS are voting with their feet. Their departure is ignored because there are enough kids from Herndon who pupil place at SLHS to get out of Herndon to hide the fact that over 100 kids a year pupil place out of SLHS. Lewis has far more, all the IB schools have a large number of kids pupil place out. I honestly think that the County keeps it so it is easier for families to leave IB schools for AP schools given that most of the IB schools are at the middle of the pack or at the lower end of the test score list.

One would think that the school board would look at the numbers and how other counties handle IB and make some changes but they don’t. So don’t blame families who have been asking for years and were people have been pupil placing out for taking advantage of a school that is 1) closer 2) attended by their MS peers 3) has AP.
