The CFP needs to expand to 16 teams as several worthy schools missed out this year in order to include two schools from the Group of Five. Vanderbilt, University of Texas, Notre Dame, and BYU should all have been included in a 16 team CFP. In my view, all four teams were better than Tulane & JMU. Desire Notre Dame football's childish reaction to not making the 12 team CFP, I would have enjoyed watching Notre Dame try to compete with the best teams in college football. ND can rise to the occasion on a single date in an otherwise weak schedule, but doubtful that ND football could beat 2 top 12 teams in consecutive games.
I completely disagree. No need to expand to let the 4th or 5th place Big 10 or SEC teams in. I don't really care that some think that some teams that were left out were better that Tulane and JMU. We're talking about 2 and 3 loss teams. Want to be in the playoffs? Win more games. Yes, it's possible the Group of 5 teams will lose badly in the playoffs. So what? Let's not forget that last year, a Big 10 team lost by 20, an SEC team lost by 25, and an ACC team lost by 28. I'd much rather have the chance of a fantastic upset than watch a mid-level SEC team get hammered by the same margin as a Group of 5 champion.
