The modesty on this thread is astounding :) . Tells you a lot about the school and the people in it. Not all of us run to post on social media when our kid gets into an Ivy. Christ
Umm others years when Sidwell had good college admits those "modest" kids were happy to crow about it on social media asap. Sooo. maybe this year Sidwell has nothing to report? Live by the sword die by the sword, people. Interesting that the parents who love to denigrate GDS on this forum simply cannot just say- "Wow good job." Seven (that we know of) Harvard admits in one class. Why is it so hard to just say the kids did great?
Relax, GDS Mom. Sidwell has 10 Ivy admits posted on Instagram so far, compared to GDS’ 14. You and I both know that no matter what the numbers end up being this year, Sidwell was/is/will always be superior to GDS. But please enjoy those extra 4 admits for now… Everyone deserves their time in the sun (especially after the results GDS’ c/o ‘23 endured).
Potomac has a little more than half the class up and strictly for Ivies they have 10 Ivies (did not count two admissions to Barnard as that is part of Columbia) posted out of 59. Had one at Oxford too. Typical class is about 108 or so. Broken down as follows: Dartmouth 4 Harvard 2 Yale 1 Brown 2 Princeton 1. Duke had 3. Lot of good SLACs e.g. Pomona, Wellesley, Barnard (as mentioned), Amherst, Middlebury, and Williams. Again note, this is about half the class. My kids long gone to Ivies from there but the list does seem stronger than when my kids were there. We only counting straight Ivies? or due other tops count e.g. Hopkins, Duke, Northwestern (there was at least one of these), MIT, Cal Tech, Chicago, Stanford, etc. You know which ones I mean--top of US News till about 15 or so.
You mean Ivy plus schools? Yeah! The bigger question is where the rest of the 116 or so total class will wind up in RD. Clearly Ivy Day for RD at Sidwell and Potomac nothing like GDS’s Harvard success, and a surprising dearth of in state options (UVA, UMD, VaTech, W and M). Unless folks making up their minds, check back in a month or so once none of the WL moves and folks need to make decisions!
