If things hold true to form from years past understand many of the 20 or so spots have been filled. These players have a good sense of where they stand. If you don’t know by now your DD is more likely grinding it out for 3-5 truly open spots. With over 100 kids trying out there’s less than a 5% chance of a random player making Capital Blue. Set proper expectations with your DDs and have realistic expectations for yourselves. Capital is not going to build a team from scratch based on a 2-3 hour tryout. That’s barely enough time between water breaks to see any meaningful player time for 100+ kids. They already know who the top players are in the incoming freshman class. The reality of the tryout is to finalize the last few spots.
I have a 2030 girl so I don’t really understand how this works. Capital Blue takes 4 or so each from BLC, Pride, Stars, and Next Level? And where do the other 20 or so from their teams go?
Capital will take the top players regardless of club affiliation. It would be an unlikely scenario where an equal number come from 4 MS clubs. Historically, Capital has had a good idea which players they will add long before tryouts. There are usually a few spots open for 100+ kids trying out to fill. Those who don’t make Capital Blue will go to Capital Orange or various other clubs.
The Top players (eg. American Select, UA150 quality) who don't make Capital rarely go to Cap Orange. They often go to Pride or some 2nd tier MD clubs like MDU, Integrity, CCLax, etc.
Well, speaking on 2027s, MDU light years better than integrity and CCLax, and better in general. It would be a very good landing spot for anyone coming from NVA.
Agree about that. However, at this age, it would be very hard for a girl not good enough to make Capital Blue to be able to break into MDU.
