My daughter is at NCS. From what I can tell: 20% Ivies 10% U of Chicago 10% other top 20 universities 10% top 10 liberal arts colleges Etc. That is 50% of the class into TOP20 colleges/universities. Minimum. Even with the deflated GPAs (well under 4.0), almost no APs, etc. STA is similar. Sidwell has pretty much gotten the entire class in top50 schools. GDS is a bit uneven.
I know that people on DCUM love to hate Sidwell, but I think that their 2023 grads had the best overall college placement among DC Metro privates. Over 80% of the class has posted on Instagram, and the vast majority are heading to top 50 universities and SLACs or better. I’m not a Sidwell parent or alum but credit should be given where credit is deserved (to the students and their parents).
Not sure how your statement squares with the original post. I counted 35 kids out of 102 on the Sidwell page attending a school outside the Top 50 National (or Top 20 SLACs)...34%. If you went back 10 years, I bet nearly 100% were attending a top 50 school.
No. There are nearly 4,000 accredited 4-year colleges in the United States. I said “…the vast majority are heading to top 50 universities and SLACs or better.” That means the top 50 universities AND the top 50 SLACs. According to my definition, 79/102 students are heading to top 50 universities and SLACs. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of student posts is objectively “the vast majority.” Stop trying to manipulate my words to suit your agenda. Don’t try to debate me on the parameters I use to measure colleges. I said top 50 and I mean top 50.
Whose top 50? You all are funny getting so twisted up on this. No wonder your kids are in therapy.
