If you are terribly medically fragile, very elderly, or incredibly risk averse, it's probably not the same but most people don't fall into that category and the first two categories have always had to be careful (and the last category is creating their own problems.) Move on, COVID is gonna be endemic and is always going to be with us in some form. Get vaccinated, take good care of your health in general so you won't be high risk, and accept the fact that life always has some degree of risk and uncertainty and you can't get rid of it.
