I find it hard to believe a few alleged phone calls placed between 9am-10am from Flight 93 convinced people to crash that plane. No wi-fi, no iPads, no laptops to visualize their fate. Just some alleged phone calls when pre 9/11, passengers would just assume you're a hostage, not on a suicide mission. Frantic phone calls before anyone in the world REALLY knew what was going on convinced all the passengers to rush the cockpit? Bullcrap. Pre 9/11 most of us would have told the alleged passenger cowboys to shut up and sit down because the kooks flying will let us live after a ransom payment.
The story as I understood it is more plausible than that. That the terrorists killed flight attendants, and at least one passenger heard from a loved one on the ground about the attacks in the WTC. They then rushed the cockpit, not necessarily planning to crash the plane so much as knowing they were dead if they did nothing. It wouldn't rock my world if you could prove the plane was shot down -- that seems plausible too, and maybe it was shot down as they fought the terrorists. But to say they didn't fight ... that is A LOT of people being interviewed for years and keeping their stories straight. Including family members. I think the simpler answer is that they did try.
