That makes more sense... that JM was getting the knife out of the backpack while BB held a gun on CB.  He's truly sociopathic.

Still, the logistics are confounding... how does BB switch out his gun for a knife while holding CB at bay -- and then getting close enough to her to hold her down and slash her.  You'd think there would be some opportunity for CB to fight... unless they restrained/tied her.  That seems like the only way she can't fight.

It's very curious how two people -- including one who has martial arts training -- were subdued.

It is extremely likely he slipped sleeping pills into her drink, are you unaware of the current trial in France? The victim's daughter has set up a foundation to publicize how common this is. Control over the victims/variables was key to the success of the plan. Drugged CB and 2 guns on JR. JR ambushed and shot before CB stabbed by BB with the knife JR was told to bring that they got from his backpack. Total control. Even if she was tied up there would have been struggle marks. I think CB was already stabbed when JR arrived. Hence why he was probably  forced to kneel down on the corner while having a gun to his head.

JR arrives and waits until BB is upstairs, he goes up, BB points the gun at him and the rest we already know….

I think it makes most sense if they were back in the house by the time JR arrived. Otherwise too much could go wrong.

She was not stabbed before JR was there if his knife, that he had been told to bring, was used.
