They beat Barcelona Academy team in a tournament. 
That puts them on an extremely short list of MLS teams and short list of clubs that face Barca Academy teams, period.

SO WHAT?  What does that mean? This is why the US is s#it at football.  Parents like you thinking winning or losing games equals development or pro trajectory.  It's all you can process because it's so easy to grasp.  Win = good, Lose = bad.  American mentality in football, and why our entire system is failing our youth.

Is the goal to beat Barca in one random tournament game or to become a professional player?  Anything can happen in one game.  Barca will do their job in making most of those kids DCU beat at u15 (an age group that doesn't matter) into pros or close to it. They have proven that year over year.  DCU won't even make 1 of those kids on that roster into a professional level player.  They will all go to college because they will never be good enough for pro football developing in DCUs system. FACTS.  Not to mention at these ages, the physicality and size gap can be significant and this is why US teams are more successful at these younger games.  We just have more early bloomers and more athletes.  At 14 years of age, the game isn't even powerful enough yet to mimic the pro game.  Anyone getting excited at 14 year old football is dumb.  When you see a game where a player runs so hard through another player and snaps their leg in half, then come talk to me. That is the power pro levels bring.  You're still eating oranges after the games at 14.

Of course a significantly inferior program thinks beating a far superior program is like winning the world cup.  Like you're doing.  But end of day Barca isn't blinking an eye after losing to DCU in one game.  It's all part of a stepping stone system of development.  They come to the US for the increased  physicality, size difference, and playing different systems.  The MLS teams are just guinea pigs to help their players.  They don't care about winning or losing the games.  Just whether the experience gets their players one step closer to the first team or to be sold to a different club.  That is all it's about.  DCU on the other hand is about posting on IG with no intention of developing the players.  Big difference.

Can the kids be proud of beating an academy like Barca?  For sure. It's why we have underdogs and why underdogs are appealing.  Even if they played against younger kids, it is still a solid result.  But the results aren't the goal.  The goal is developing as a player and the reality is most of those kids aren't getting better because they are in a flawed system that doesn't care about their development.  DCU.  Can't really get around this fact no matter what the result.. [/quote]
