Ultimately I'm thinking they'll at least provide transportation for rising 10th - 12th grade as they will have curriculum impacts as programs are not consistent across schools and in some cases courses cross two years.
They will not. That was very clear last night at the meeting. They will not provide any transportation.
If you have been following the procrss over the past few years, this is not at all surprising. I am sure that many of them feel that the extensive grandfathering is the big concession. Remember, when this process was started, the school board (except for Dr. Anderson) did not even want to grandfather seniors. That is why many of us got quickly involved in the anti rezoning fight. They caved on grandfathering seniors, then added other grades to grandfathering. But originally, the school board didn't want to grandfather a single student, not even rising seniors. No one should be shocked that they are not going to provide busses.
I'm not hearing shock in any of these comments--although there is precedent for providing bussing for all other recent boundary changes and the 10M figure is based solely on 'assumptions' and as someone said back of the envelope math. I think the argument is that all of this should have been thought about by the board ahead of time, providing ideas to ensure equity should have been brought to the table, flippant comments about "having kids with means drive poor kids' from our School Board members...that's worth the shock.
