I tend to agree. I'm an agnostic, but my cousin is a hardcore atheist who is always shoving her non-belief down others' throats and ridiculing believers.  Isn't that just as bad as religious people who proselytize zealously and talk about "hell and damnation"?  How is it different?  It's not.[/quote]

Thank you for agreeing. It's frustrating to me. I'm a Christian and I'm finding a lot of atheists behavior to be so insulting, whereas I can't imagine being that way to someone else. I have no problem if you disagree with my belief system, but why cants you be respectful about it? [/quote]

As an atheist, I know a lot of respectful atheists.  I hope to count myself among them.  But I also see many believers see it as "offense" when an atheist doesn't give their beliefs deference, which is what so many believers are used to receiving in this country.  Sorry to say, it's usually Christians who do this.[/quote]

I'd like to encounter this "lot" of respectful atheists. Even within this thread people have been very insulting to believers. As a Christian, all I ask is that you give the same respect that you'd want for yourself. [/quote]

I am a respectful atheist who works in a church. I keep my (lack of) beliefs to myself. It's not that hard. I don't see why Christians can't be as polite and respectful as I am. I of course don't hold parishioners to this standard in their own place of worship, but there are plenty of other places I encounter religion where it has no place.[/quote]
