The floor of the room had people's names on it with a candle or other memento.  I bet its either a shrine to someone close they have lost personally or it could be the name of someone they ate and they are doing some silly ass  justification of "honoring" their memory and how they helped give the group strength.  Kind of like the old spirit of the deer, didn't want to kill you but had to and now I am going to give you some proper respect.  I needed to do this  but I didn't take pleasure in it. Don't think its  a religious cult per se but more they have found a way to justify their actions to survive.

Agree mostly. The whole "everyone who comes makes the group stronger...(by being eaten)"
