If Trump wants to appeal, he doesn't have to post bond. It's only if Trump wants to stay collection proceedings while the appeal is pending that he has to post a bond. If I'm a financial institution, I'm not providing this bond at any price that's much different than face value. Nothing is certain, but there is a fantastic chance the appeal will not go his way and the judgment will remain owing. This isn't a bond guarding against a remote, contingent possibility. It's a very probable, if not quite certain, liability. [/quote]
