No.  He said he was assigned with the Seals.  What about that is not true?  He never said he was a Navy Seal.  Anyone who has served would know that.  Lots of military serve with units different from their own branch.  [/quote]

DeSantis definitely used crafty language to imply that he was a Navy Seal.  He said he was "with the Navy Seals in ..."  The average listener would think "oh, he was a Navy Seal."  The careful listener would know that Desantis wasn't actually a Navy Seal, and that he was using sneaky language to make himself sound more macho.  He knew very well that it didn't sound as tough/strong to say "I was a military lawyer in ..."

He wanted to create the subtle impression that he was essentially a Navy Seal -- but say it in a way that he couldn't be nailed for outright lying.[/quote]

DP.  Look, we get that you hate DeSantis, but he's a straight-shooter.  He means what he says.  He in no way was trying to mislead anyone by correctly stating that he deployed alongside a SEAL unit.  If you or other LWNJs are confused by that, go and check the facts.  He was indeed deployed alongside a SEAL unit, as their legal advisor - absolutely true.
