The idea is to encourage people to use mass transit and bike. They are cleaner modes of movement and with better allocation of space, more time efficient as well. They are taking away street parking. There is plenty of private garage parking available on K Street.[/quote]

Obviously, that's what they're hoping. The reality though is that people will just go elsewhere if it's too hard to drive and park. Happens all the time. There are parts of the city like Georgetown that I haven't been to in many years because it's too hard to get around. [/quote]
