This. Prosecutors hate losing. Defendants like Trump can make any case a slog. They can throw tons of resources into it, far more than typical public defender and sole practitioner chattel they enjoy overpowering into plea deals for their clients. As PP indicates, lots of high $ VIPs who have no desire to see this pursued. Then Trump is unique because he can almost assuredly find a couple of secret MAGAs on a jury to spike the case, and he has substantial organized crime resources backing him up and terrifying line prosecutors and staff. So yes, it’s time to accept that many, many people are just VERY difficult to convict, such that it’s easier to move on.[/quote]
