COMSTAT programs absolutely worked to reduce crime and homicide, and to get guns off the street. The dismantling of these programs and the attack on the legitimacy of the police post-2014/the Ferguson riots is what has undermined the effectiveness of the police. It went into high gear with the "defund the police" riots in 2020.
And COMSTAT programs also worked to turn police into occupying military-cosplay forces that were more focused on arrests than actually solving crime. If the police and their Republican authoritarian allies would actually agree to hold bad apple cops responsible for killings, we might actually have a “serve and protect” police force instead of a force that doesn’t actually talk to civilians and so can’t solve actual crime.
keep speaking up for the violent criminals and attacking programs that actually reduced violent crime
So your answer is “no” to cops actually talking to people on 14th st then, it seems. We know what reduces violent crime: solving violent crime. And we know what works to solve violent crime: talking to people to get information. Not juking stats to please some stupid scoring system. Also removing guns reduces violent crime, so we could do some of that. Oh wait, we can’t, because there are six Fed Soc foot soldiers who have been corruptly installed on the highest court of the land and they don’t care about you and me, they just care about helping billionaires so they’ll push gun politics to do that.
