I’ve seen a fair amount of Ben bashing in this board, some of which came from me. The difference is that I feel a bit sorry for Ben, while I don’t for Jlo. He’s a struggling alcoholic and his family has to suffer the consequences of that. Jlo is clearly motivated and ambitious, and doesn’t suffer from any obvious addiction or mental health issues, so what’s her excuse for being an absent parent and generally parading around with a new bf a week after ending a prior engagement? It seems kind of pathetic all around, particularly at their ages, but for her it just seems more deliberate and desperate.  The irony of seeming desperate when your with Ben affleck is not lost on me. [/quote]

Nice, so the mental illness of addiction garners sympathy, but whatever is going on with JLo isn't visible or tragic enough for you so you can just hate her. Good mental gymnastics. He's hurting people. She is not.[/quote]

They are both hurting people, primarily their children, however only one of them called off an engagement to someone who her kids were personally close to, and immediately abandoned them to galavant across cities with an ex of questionable stability (that person is Jlo.) neither of them are going to win parent of the year, but at least Bens kids have a present parent in Jennifer garner. Who’s parenting jlos kids? It doesn’t seem like Marc Anthony is there 24/7 while she’s off working and being with Ben. We hate on her because she seems like a materialistic narcissist with poor values. There’s no mental gymnastics. She clearly doesn’t struggle from a long term addiction like Ben affleck does, which doesn’t give him a free pass, but at least explains his erratic behavior. [/quote]
