The purpose of TJ and all Governor's Schools:  "The Virginia Governor's School Program has been designed to assist divisions as they meet the needs of a small population of students whose learning levels are remarkably different from their age-level peers. The foundation of the Virginia Governor's School Program centers on best practices in the field of gifted education and the presentation of advanced content to able learners."

.....it really hasn't. The school will continue to be exceptional and will continue to serve exceptional learners - and will be able to be even more selective than they were previously now that access has been significantly improved. Even with the increase in class size, it's likely that the school's acceptance rate will go DOWN. What has been abandoned is the practice of allowing families to pose their students as having greater levels of intellect than they actually have through the standardized testing process and the tens of millions of dollars that are sunk into it every year in the name of TJ.[/quote]
