....Which many Republicans were calling for. 
But, no.  This administration (and many on this site) argued that until Russia actually [i]did something[/i], the sanctions could not be imposed.  
And, the video montage above shows that this administration WAS threatening sanctions to deter Russia - completely contrary to what Biden claimed yesterday.

They were right.  Preemptive strikes is the kind of thing Putin does.  They may join NATO so I have to kill them. It is also what got us into the ridiculous Iraq war.  You strike only when something done is bad, never just because you think somebody is going to do something bad.  It seems even Putin and George W suffer from paranoia.[/quote]

This administration told us for WEEKS prior to the invasion that Russia was going to invade.  Russia built up their troops over a course of several months and despite the US (and presumably other NATO nations) having the intelligence that they fully expected him to invade, the US did nothing.  They didn't ramp up providing Ukraine with the arms they needed.  They didn't impost any of the sanctions against Russia.

And, don't try to tell us that this administration didn't consider the threat of sanctions a deterrent.  Nearly all the officials who spoke on this topic called them a deterrent... Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Kamala Harris, Jen Psaki........
Biden is trying to claim now that they were never a deterrent because this administration failed in that regard.  And, we all know it.  [/quote]
