Who is trying to negotiate a settlement between Russia and Ukraine right now? Other than themselves.
Israel.
I see reports there was a meeting a few weeks ago. I don't see anything new really. Obviously, sanctions didn't do anything. We have sanctioned Cuba since 1960s when Russia put nukes at our front door. Been over 60 years.
Sanctions are just a long term, slow way of draining a country of any military potency. It’s like shelling, in a way - lasts long, many casualties, and eventually the country can’t be aggressive any more. But since a country that large has never been sanctioned before it remains to be seen how effective it is. Its regular citizens are sure to live a miserable life though.
Cuba has never been aggressive toward the US. America sanctions Cuba out of pure spite since there is no conceivable harm that can come to America from Cuba.
I meant the Russian case and sanctions in general They aren’t different from the indiscriminate shelling Russia is doing now They hurt all people. And they hurt the poor and powerless the most I understand there’s nothing else that can be done but I also can’t help but feel for those Russians who never wanted the war
