I see reports there was a meeting a few weeks ago.  I don't see anything new really.  Obviously, sanctions didn't do anything.  We have sanctioned Cuba since 1960s when Russia put nukes at our front door.  Been over 60 years.  [/quote]

Sanctions are just a long term, slow way of draining a country of any military potency. It’s like shelling, in a way - lasts long, many casualties, and eventually the country can’t be aggressive any more. But since a country  that large has never been sanctioned before it remains to be seen how effective it is. Its regular citizens are sure to live a miserable life though. [/quote]

True, except with Cuba, we cut deal where the nukes were removed.  Nobody is removing Russias nukes.

Could the Pope and/or Eastern Orthodox Patriarch help broker a peace deal?  Not sure if ever been attempted, but what if[/quote]
