It’s a covid treatment that was tested in randomized controlled trials and approved by FDA under an EUA. It was originally developed during the Ebola crisis but was thought to have broad antiviral potential. And to the PPs point, steroids are also a treatment used for hospitalized patients whose efficacy was proven through rigorous trials.
