TBH, I think he's right that the president can do that.  But he clearly didn't do that while he was president.  There's a reason his lawyers have never asserted that in court - they aren't willing to straight-up lie.[/quote]

No.  A president cannot do that. Classification/Declassification IS a process—not a metaphysical state.[/quote]

To clarify further before people really lose the plot—when he was president he could access and use any classified document he wanted, he could even divulge the information in it to the public if he wanted to, or even post a screenshot on Twitter, but it would remain classified unless it was officially declassified. Meaning the laws about classified information would still apply.   And now those laws apply to him. Because he’s not president.
