People who don't get this film and who don't get Chris Kyle, fail to see that these American snipers look at their kills the way a surgeon looks at cancer - a disease to be rid of, cut out, so that lives are saved. Terrorists are a diseas and a cancer, and some men have the courage toshoot them dead. They don't feel any guilt or remorse or anything that an average person might feel.
People who don't get this film see the terrorists as the good guys. They truly believe we created them, so we should be empathetic.
We invaded Iraq and there was no link between 9/11 and Iraq. There were no weapons of mass destruction. How would you behave if your country was invaded? Would defending your soil be terrorism? Do you even think to ask these questions? Did the movie ask any of thee questions?
Does defending my soil include massacring satirists in Paris? How about school children? Throwing acid on women? Pushing gay people off buildings? Shooting teenage boys for watching a soccer match? Nice folk, Al Qaeda and ISIS. How about you invite them over to have dinner with your wife and kids and express your empathy?
I did not support W's decision to invade Iraq, but at some point, US troops were primarily fighting Al Queda In Iraq - and that I support. I still support fighting/killing Al Queda and ISIL. So does our president. As to who "created" Al Queda - THEY created themselves and they hate the west simply for being the west. They hate infidels. They hate women. The hate the house of Saud (even though the Saudis once supported salafis / radicals as somehow useful). Al Queda and ISIL are pure hatred. So it bogles my mind how the American left can share that same hate towards a hero like Chris Kyle. Then again, the American left seems to harbor a lot of hate toward America.
Oh, that's original, accusing us of being un-American.
