If they pulled kids into Skyview from Oakton, South Lakes, Chantilly and Westfield in about even numbers, that would be doable. Their current plans seem to pull almost all the Skyview students from Westfield, which creates a huge headache for them: trying to backfill the least popular and largest school building.
What you’re suggesting would requite absurd gerrymandering. Skyview is in the Floris area. It’s a good site, and not one they could have otherwise found had KAA not become available. Coates and McNair are north of Floris. Floris obviously should go to Skyview. If you don’t then include Coates and McNair at Skyview, you’re creating a Westfield attendance island. They just need to put their big boy pants on, draw sensible boundaries for Skyview that relieve overcrowding at Chantilly (flip a damn coin for Fox Mill vs. Crossfield), and move what’s needed to backfill Westfield. That means some of Centreville will need to move to Westfield, and we can pare back the ridiculous plan to expand Centreville to 3000, which would be a huge taxpayer rip-off.
Screw flipping the coin, take Fox Mill as the politically expedient thing to do. And yes, I am a Fox Mill parent.
