Despite the defeatist view in here that we should do nothing, others have taken notice and are trying to do something to prevent this so called completely unpredictable phenomenon. https://www.newark.rutgers.edu/news/study-reveals-how-incels-become-violent-extremists
I applaud this work, especially if it leads to finding ways to combat the radicalization of incense and similar people via internet reforms or changes to our education system. This is also different than just locking up all self-identified incels, or expecting family members of these men to find some way to lock them up without any support from law enforcement or the mental health community, neither of which will do anything unless you can prove that someone poses and imminent threat to other people, something you generally can't do.
Somehow there might be something between do nothing and lock them up. I think some parents of boys are feeling very uncomfortable in here and instead of lashing out at others, should spend more time talking to their own sons and taking stock.
Fair enough. My son is 8 and no one, not his pediatrician or teachers or counselors or babysitters, think any of his behavior rises to the level of anything diagnosable or disturbing. He has a lot of friends, doesn't act out in school, does well and has met all milestones. The parents of friends and classmates I talk to express the some of the same experiences with their sons. But I am worried by some behaviors that many write off as "boys being boys." We've started some social and emotional supports, just in case.
