Williams and Amherst, and many other SLACS, are fantastic schools but they would rank lower than any of the Ivies in a head to head competition due to the lack of comparable science and engineering resources.  They aren't really comparable which is why they are separately ranked. [/quote]

Ivys are a historical designation - not a designation given by quality.  Now there are schools that are better than some ivys - MIT, Stanford, Oxbridge would come in there. But Williams and Amherst - I agree, not a chance.[/quote]

They are back for another run from with another edition of “fact free musings of a striver”. The only actually useful information from 27 pages is the many comments from R1 professors who have experienced both, posters who have experienced both, and posters with positions in high demand, high skilled fields. And, the consistent message is that they all think that top SLACs are equal too or exceed the precious schools of the Ivy League. Deal with it, you will survive the cognitive dissonance.
