RTO and strict no TW is a complete waste. I had an event at my kid’s school today so instead of TW for the first two hrs of my day, I had to take leave for that time, then take the kid, and then come in for the remainder of the day. So my agency got 2 fewer hrs of work out of me and any work I should or could have been doing during that had to wait until I drove in. same for any time I have a drs appt or have to take my kids to one-I leave early go to the appt and then can’t work when I get home whereas normally i could have. And I refuse to crack open my laptop at home to work when I’ve taken leave for this time-I’m not TW when my leave is on the clock. Absolutely not. Until this admin allows some flexibility my leave is my leave and that’s it. In the past, I’d be more than happy to log in later and check in on things but not when our flexibility has been stripped like this. There are pockets of my agency that are beginning ti allow ad hoc TW for situations like this, but Ira very hush hush and sporadic-I don’t think offices want other offices to know they’re slowly opening the door to it out of fear of retribution but we need to get these crazies out of office so we can return to some normalcy. Not full on TW every day but people have lives and TW is a flexible tool to balance work and life commitments.
