Threads like this one are 99% hysteria and hyperbole and less than 1% fact, and even the facts are wrong. The hysteria mostly focuses on enforcing immigration laws and cutting the size and spend of government. That’s what we voted for and I hope he keeps it up!
Well, DOGE didn’t come close to cutting their spending goal and will, in fact, cost the government more than they are saving. So much winning!!
How will DOGE cutting cost govt more? Sounds like some spun up journalism school type BS to me. What does it take to think this crap up? No. In your eyes, there's not a single thing in govt that can be cut absent defense, whose budget is now superceded in size alone by interest payments on the debt. You best hope DOGE is successful or we'll be looking Venezuela. Don't expect to tax me 90% of my pay, cuz I will quit and let this place burn and so will everyone else. The DC shenanigans are coming to a head. It's just math.
When we talk about people lacking critical thinking skills, this is exactly what we mean. Can you really not see how making random and arbitrary cuts to jobs, programs, and services will cost more in the long run? Please just take a few minutes to really think it through. Would it save you money if I walked into your house and decided to help you out by randomly trashing things and cancelling everything you are billed for? Those things cost you money, so surely I am saving you money by getting rid of them, right? No, you say? It will actually cost you more money and time to replace even just the essentials? Ok, put on that thinking cap and apply that to government. And you are wrong about us being anti spending cuts. Sit down and talk to any government employee, and ask them if they would like to see their agency be more efficient and cut spending without sacrificing the mission. I guarantee you every single one of them will say yes. They will even give you some thoughts on how that can be accomplished. We all pay taxes. We all like the idea of paying less taxes without sacrificing the lifestyle that our government helps provide for us. If doge would actually take the time to talk to the agencies and investigate the spending, it could be helpful. But they can’t be bothered with all that work, so they go with the chainsaw instead.
