The histrionics about a possible Hogan win are hilarious. He did a good job for MD as governor and will do a good job as senator.
Governors can be non-partisan. Senators have to decide which party to caucus with. That decision alone disqualifies him for me
+1 The Hogan supporters on this thread are trying to bamboozle us with vague assurances of Hogan’s alleged “moderation”. But I notice that they carefully avoid acknowledging that senators make binary, up-or-down votes and so far none of them have promised that Hogan would provide Democrats with a crucial vote to block a Trump Supreme Court nominee or a piece of legislation important to MAGA.
How could they? He won't.
I don’t know how many times we have to explain this, but we know he’s a Republican, so we aren’t voting for him with the expectation that he’s caucusing with Democrats. I don’t however expect him to toe the MAGA line with crazy legislation. There is room for that in the Senate, not so much in the House. Hogan is not dumb, unless he really is aiming to be a 1 term Senator he cannot go full MAGA because his core constituency is non-MAGA moderates on both sides.
With Project 2025, he doesn't care. 6 years is enough time to do massive amounts of damage.
I’m sorry but nothing I have seen of Larry Hogan tells me he is cobbling together a coalition of moderates only to abandon that and go full MAGA once in the Senate, thus ensuring his fate as a 1 term wonder. I’m just not seeing it.
He's cobbling together a coalition of moderates? Where? How? The junior Senator from Maryland is just going to up and run things? I can't tell if people posting this sort of thing have their heads in the sand or are Hogan shills. The question Hogan ought to be asked is if he would have voted to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial after January 6th. I'll bet anyone a million bucks that Hogan will hem and haw and refuse to answer the question. If you have your head in the sand I formally invite you to remove it and face reality. All sorts of things we were told we were hysterical about and would never happen are happening. I am frankly not willing to try my luck.
