What an insane story. So why was the other son spared?
You really need to go listen to the Murdaugh Murders podcast. It goes into quite a bit of history and detail. Likely, Paul was killed because he wasn't supposed to be at the house (his friend's had a dog at their kennel and the son decided to last minute check in on the dog as a favor). There is ample evidence that Alex lured his wife to Mozelle (the house where she was murdered), and killed her while trying to set up an alibi that he was with his ailing parents. Paul likely arrived to check on the dog and either caught his dad in the act or soon after. Paul also was the driver of the boat that killed Mallory Beach. It's really worth it to go back and listen to the entire podcast, you will see the web he's been weaving for years, how they were likely broke (Maggie bounced a check to a charity a month or so before she died...). After listening to the f'ed up things he did to so many people it's not at all surprising that he's going to be charged (the podcast talks about how he had "high velocity" blood spatter that could only come from close range to the actual shooting (think blood mist vs blood splatter).
Is it really verbose? I find podcasts like to really.drag.it.out. and make what should have been 4 episodes into 8.
Well a lot of the news has been real time (when they aired). So much info has come out since last year (for example Mandy the podcaster, was one of the reasons the Saterfield/housekeeper I’m sure that’s not correct spelling) family got a lawyer to find out about the money laundering. I can’t remember what episode it was about the details at moselle/shooting. Want to say In the last few months. They (podcast) FOIA a ton so they have the 911 call, they have his jail house calls, etc etc. She’s really giving sunlight to something that could have easily been never found out. It’s a bananas ride with the podcast. But yes back to my original comment there is a strong possibility that the son was only killed because he was a witness. The podcast talks about how the marriage seemed fine but that the wife had been living separately from Alex for months at their beach house. And that she was likely realizing that they were in massive debt. What’s not clear is where was all the money going. He was robbing his clients for millions and they were so broke. It’s also wild how the local police have been involved and what role they might have played in trying to cover it up.
Wasn’t the money for opioids?
