I'm with you but the houses (outside of windmill model) won't be monsters on small lots. They'll be nice sized, imo, on smallish lots. But I agree, I don't get this sentiment of "you are going to spend $100-150k at the design center, easy" - nonsense. I've been through the process before and this can't be further from the truth. I'm with you, though, basement/outdoor space you should do upfront. If mortgage rates continue to be super low, why not roll those costs into the mortgage? Basement is one of those things that you can put off doing and you'll have to find a contractor, etc. It can be a pita. Same with outdoor space. Those are 2 things I'd do upfront.
Fair enough--I think we'd likely end up doing at least the rec room given the specials TB is always running. I enjoy the process of doing a more custom outdoor space, especially on small-ish lots. TB's luxury outdoor space is lovely, but takes up a lot of space and doesn't leave a ton more room to play around with. That is just my preference though. Glad to hear I'm not the only one coming from the same perspective on the design center!
Is TB running any specials currently at Mt Prospect?
