Buses are transit.

But DC does not have great bus lines. They're slow, they're often crowded, and they're vulnerable to cuts.

I know you think you are being clever but in fact the reason DC has spent so much on infra the last 15 years is precisely because the city has been densifying - the city has been adding residents who require relatively little land and take relatively little in DC services relative to what they pay in taxes.  That in turn has led to a surge in tax revenue which is how the city has modernized most of its schools, rec centers, fire stations etc all while the number of cars in the city has grown at a rate much slower than the population has grown.

So yeah the urbanist virtuous circle thing actually does work.[/quote]
