That's the rumor, but I doubt it would affect the girls DA. The boys DA *generally* has a significant gap between the MLS and non-MLS clubs. They might actually be better off going with, say, 50 clubs.[/quote]

Just to play that out, let's assume that 50 DA boys teams break away from the current DA program and form their own league that allows them to play each other, play international youth teams from other pro clubs, etc.  Do you not think that there will be something that follows on the girls side, whether ECNL or DA?  Stated differently, if the boys suddenly have a new "super elite" league, then do you really think someone is not going to have an idea to create a "super elite" league on the girls side?  Not saying that would be a good idea at all, and I understand the reasons why it would be less likely to work on the girls side than the boys side.  However, it just seems like past history has shown that this is like an arms race, where one new "elite" league replaces the current elite league.  We have seen it take place several times at the local level and regional level.[/quote]
