I’m still not feeling any of these calamitous effects in my life. I actually just got a raise this week. Yes, it will surpass inflation by a long shot. Our DC is a 2026 grad and has a job. We took them out to an expensive dinner to celebrate. I don’t care which party is in the White House. I simply keep moving forward the best I can and spend a lot less time complaining and worrying than most people here.
Interesting, nonchalant, uncaring position when so many others are suffering. I vaguely remember my very own sister saying something similar to what's in bold. She was given a pink slip a year later under the guise of downsizing. The more likely story is that she was at the top of her salary cap because someone nearly twenty years younger was hired in a similar position three months later. It took her nearly two years to find another job at a lower salary, and that was after dipping into her savings and 401 (k). Life can hit hard when we least expect it, so PP, it would be okay to avoid being snarky or overly high-minded when discussing those who have lost their jobs, income, and are feeling a bit uncertain. You never know when it can happen to you or someone emotionally close to you.
