Soccer was just as bad. If you started rec soccer at 8 you were guaranteed to be on the team with all the late starters or just moved in kids and to get destroyed. You either figured out what team your kids friends were on and requested that exact practice schedule and those kids or you were destined to play on the only team that had not been playing together since 4, maybe 5.
