Just evil. Seems as if some people would rather have women abort their babies rather than seek assistance with their pregnancies. […]
No, evil is what you’re doing - forcing women to live according to your whacked out, misogynistic religious beliefs. You are taking away the right to safe abortion and birth control. “Crisis pregnancy centers” are the devil. Lying, deceitful misogynists targeting poor women at their most vulnerable.
Agree. A few years ago, my DD came to me. One of her friends in HS was pregnant and had called a crisis pregnancy number where she was told that because she was a minor in Maryland, she could NOT get an abortion in MD without her parent’s agreement. Thank goodness the girl repeated the story to my DD who knew that wasn't right and came to me. I am so glad I had educated my child in advance about abortion as an option and sent the message that I supported girls/women exercising their rights. These crisis pregnancy centers are evil and deliberately giving vulnerable women misinformation. I told my daughter the truth - that Maryland has a parental notification law under which one only has to tell one parent of a minor abortion and the minor can get an abortion over either parent’s objection. And that even in states with parental notification, there is usually a judicial bypass option. In any case, a minor can get an abortion in DC without any parental notification or consent, no matter where they live. I also told my daughter several other sources of accurate, reliable abortion information - the National Abortion Federation Hotline and Planned Parenthood. This summer my kids go off to college - and you can bet they will know everything about pregnancy, birth control, emergency contraception, abortion, childbirth, etc. Knowledge is power. Educate your kids!
