I agree, my kids mostly wore consignment clothes from babyhood - preschool but once were were past K (both boy and girl) I had to switch to buying new (on sale) at Old Navy, Target, Lands End.

The consignment route doesn't take that much time if you do it in big batches -- I shopped twice a year at Dani's Duds (http://www.danisduds.com/)  plus our preschool's annual kid stuff sale.  Great selection and prices and I rarely had to buy additional clothing.  Mainly an issue if I misjudged sizes or one of the kids grew faster than anticipated.[/quote]
