Even before Magic was diagnosed, rumors flew about how often he frequented gay clubs in Miami. After he was diagnosed and practically deified, you couldn't say anything about how he contracted HIV without being shouted down and turned into a pariah. One of his former "friends" tried to write a book and no one would give him a deal. If he had lived long enough for the internet to be a thing, he would have probably self published.
