And this is why the democrats keep losing the sane vote. For all the people who hate trump so much why were you quite when Biden was president? He wasn’t even making decisions and you didn’t hear republicans having tantrums in the streets. I may not like trump and his policies but at least I know he’s making the decisions and not some cabinet that I didn’t vote for like during Biden. So for this vote, no, I don’t like trump either but I am voting no. It’s wrong, most democrats agree to that. This is not a national election, it’s a state election so it shouldn’t matter what Texas or California are doing. For state elections the purpose is to do what’s best for the STATE. This is gone too far. If it keeps going like this, we will have all lost ourselves.
Again…for all the people in the cheap seats…the democrats ran the tables in the state of VA. Dominated at every level. Sorry, but no “sane” person voted Republican. Literally, the VA Republican Party was slapped in the face with a pile of bricks. Again, this thread is about the state of VA. Oh btw, a democrat just won the FL legislature seat in Trump’s back yard of Palm Beach, where a Republican last won by 19 points. On a national basis, democrats have now won 99% of all special elections. You morons need to stop using the term “this is why democrats are losing….”
How about a little perspective? Yes the Democrats swept in the last election. That was a giant F-You to Trump, no doubt. Spanberger running as a "pragmatic centrist" and Earle-Sears being a terrible candidate certainly helped, but admittedly, we also elected a maniac AG because his opponent was aligned with Trump. But this is about our congressional districts and only a year prior, just under 48% of Virginians voted for Republicans. As a result our seats are 6 D, 5 R. Sorry, but 2025's results are not a mandate to completely blow up that up and make it 10 D, 1 R. It's just not. More importantly, if you're so confident in this major shift of everyone voting Democrat? Then there's no need to even worry about congressional redistricting in VA. By your own logic, the Dems already got this.
I am not opining on this particular Amendment vote...but rather, all the morons who preface a post with "this is why the Democrats keep losing/lost...." The reality, is the Democrats didn't lose in the most recent elections. They completely dominated...historically dominated. So, at the very least, all you dipshits...stop prefacing your post with a reference to the Democrats losing. Also, by my own logic...if I wanted to further cement my status, then of course I would push for redistricting. Same reason the TX republicans pushed for redistricting. Same reason why the UK or France or Italy call snap elections...because they take advantage of the moment.
Wow. Further cementing your status? Take advantage of the moment? If nothing else, I appreciate your honesty. At least you admit that this amendment has nothing do do with "saving our democracy", "fair elections" or "doing the right thing" and that it's all about grabbing more power. I just wish those pushing it in ads would do the same.
You would write this because you are dipshit. It's counteracting the exact same thing done in Texas and North Carolina and other Red States. They don't care about fair elections or doing the right thing...they are taking advantage of the moment and further cementing their status. What's worse...they didn't even have the decency to put it to a vote.
Shocker! You're caught saying the quiet part out loud and your reaction is name calling? I'm not surprised. How about you just own it? And also, grow the f up.
Quiet part out loud? Countless posters on this very thread have pointed out that Republicans will continue to play dirty while insisting Democrats play fair and that redistricting is a necessary counterbalance to extreme Republican partisanship. Nobody denies this. Why are Republicans given a pass to engage in electoral shenanigans? Congressional Democrats have proposed banning partisan gerrymandering, but Republicans have refused to back such a measure. I wonder why!
Mostly because this isn't TUM, Texas Urban Moms. We aren't here to discuss states other than Virginia.
Virginia is reacting to what Texas started. I don’t know why you people can’t acknowledge that simple fact. It’s like blaming the victim when he grows a pair and punches his bully back. Yeah, punching is bad, but FAFO. Stand your ground. All that stuff.
California already reacted to Texas redrawing their maps.
Ok, then Virginia is reacting to Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri, and Utah redrawing their maps in 2025.
Nice of you to catch up with the rest of us.
