1. GFR permits started after 5pm. Anyone can use fields prior to it. (Play lacrosse, football) 2. Nothing was ever in secret. His business is splattered all over his car. Nothing is invite only, you have to be pro active if you want to supplement. No one was ever not included, it was a choice if you didn’t want to add to your club training. 3. Nothing was ever with select players (only those that chose to make time). Groups were max 4-5. Never needed a permit because what he did was NOT large group training. 4. If he wanted his trainings to be secret and sleazy why would he do them in front of everyone on home turf right before his own club practice. Apply logic? 5. From personal experience some not all players he trained did NOT play in games as much as others. It was not a pay to play environment.
The haters aren’t interested in truth or logic. Their victimhood has given them an axe so they’re going to grind it, truth and logic be damned.
I don't know this guy, and I have boys only, and none play for GFR, but its weird to me that parents are defending clearly unethical behavior.
How is running a business and trying to make a living unethical behavior ? Non compete’s in today’s business world DO NOT stand a chance in court.
He is being paid to coach the team already. Accepting cash on the side so certain kids get better treatment? HIGHLY unethical. And sounds like against his employment contract with GFR. Its not a non-compete. Its double-dipping.
You have absolutely no clue. Many coaches do private training. It’s not double-dipping. They get paid to train a team for 1-1.5 hours 3-4 times per week plus games. Practice in evenings and games on weekends. Most coach 2, maybe 3 and sometimes 4, teams. Depending on how hard you’re willing to work or how many mouths you need to feed, that leaves a lot of hours to do something else. Many coaches work at schools because the hours work well with practice schedules. The coaches with the biggest followings do extensive private training, group sessions, camps, and clinics. That is their primary job, just like teaching is many other coaches’ primary job. GD is one of dozens of coaches in the DMV who do this. Go to any highschool on a weekend (when the school’s teams aren’t using the fields) and you’ll see this in action. The fact you don’t know this demonstrates that your kids are not serious players.
