Is the MMR vaccine a one and done if you received it as a child?
In childhood, it should be two doses. Later in life, protection can sometimes wane and you can have your titers checked and receive a booster if warranted.
+1 My husband and I just had titers checked today at CVS. We are close to the ages where that’s recommended because there was a weaker strain of the vaccine in use when we would have gotten it as kids.
Hello! Sorry to hijack this thread but can you tell me how I can get my titers checked? It’s something I can do at CVS? I finished chemotherapy in June and even though my oncologist says I don’t need to revaccinate (I’m 40 and assume I had the vaccines as a child), I’m concerned I now don’t have the immunity I did before chemo. Thank you!
Yes we made a Minute Clinic appointment at the kiosk in the store, I think the category was “vaccination other than Covid or chicken pox” or something like that. The NP takes a little blood and sends it to Labcorp to measure titers.
Update: received my test results in less than 24 hours, my mumps and rubella immunities are fine but my measles is low, going to get an MMR booster. This was all free btw with Aetna insurance.
