This is how it will work with Trump's rounding up 20 million people and putting them in concentration camps. There will be no due process or appeal. Just some Republican bureaucrat issuing arrest quotas. Bet your Republican neighbor down the street is eyeing your house and car. They will turn you and move in to your house. Do you trust Republicans or the "conservatives" who post here with that power?
Get a grip. Every noncitizen vote cancels out the vote of a citizen. Removing illegal voting registrations is common sense. You sound completely unhinged all because the court acknowledges that the judge acted inappropriately to force those names back onto the voting roster to increase the opportunity to fraud. And as shown with the link above out of Michigan, once an illegal vote is cast, it counts!
If this is such a concern, why wait until it's within the period the LAW says not to do it. Why not start a program YEARS ago? Because this is a BS stunt to fix a problem that isn't really a problem. Non citizen voting has been illegal for a long time and multiple checks have found it's not an issue. One guy in Michigan and you guys are saying the sky is falling so that you can justify your illegal purge of actual citizen votes. Lies and Cheating and projection to try and cover it up: The GOP way. You can't win fairly so you cheat and blame the other side.
The law doesn't say not to do it. That is a mistaken interpretation.
This is a stunt. It's BS. You know it, we know it. Otherwise I say to you, Youngkin's admin is inefficient and unfit. They should have taken care of this long before now. Incompetence. But we all know this is a BS stunt. He's such a MAGA loser.
From the SCOTUS emergency filing... "...the district court below ordered Applicants, Virginia and its election officials, to place 1,600 SELF-IDENTIFIED NONCITIZENS back onto Virginia's rolls, in violation of Virginia law and common sense."
But that was a lie in the filing. They are not "self-identified non-citizens". Their citizenship was not verified or, if it was verified, it was not documented. As PP said above, if this was a legitimate issue, Virginia would have done this months ago. Youngkin intentionally waited until it was less than 90 days before the election to remove voters from the rolls. As with everything Republicans do, it is just a self-promotion stunt by Youngkin.
Your last portion is wrong, this was a preexisting program. On the 90th day, Youngkin changed the updates to “daily” from monthly. Va Mercury: “The 2006 law directs DMV to send monthly lists of people who failed to identify as citizens to the state Board of Elections to be further forwarded to local registrars. Youngkin’s Aug. 7 executive order called for daily purges based on DMV data.“
The process you are describing is dysfunctional. If they did not identify as a citizen, or identified as a non-citizen, how were they on the voter rolls in the first place? You don't automatically put every driver's license recipient on the voter rolls, and then check a month or so later whether to take them off. If they said they are not a citizen, you don't add them to the voter rolls. If they did not check any box, you send them a postcard telling them they cannot be added to the voter rolls without confirming that they are citizens.
