"I will say UC Irvine, while not in the best location, is a very strong education in the West US." -What makes it very strong? Uci is the definition of overrated. Propped up in great part on the w.coast because of the sheer # of ca kids & parents coping that their kids didn't get into cal or ucla. Also partly propped up as as of late they seem to be yield-protecting against kids they think are likely in at cal or ucla. Blah school, mostly blah kids.
Oh my god. Irvine CA is one of the most desireable places to live on the entire planet. What are you smoking? Have you have ever been to south Orange County? My god, I thought I read it all. Overrated are those schools helicopter parents hate because their kid didn't get into it,or their kids enemy did. UMiami is a great school. Ditto for Colby. Same for UNC, etc.
If I could pay for every DCUM to take a quick trip to California and explore LA/OC, it would make me genuinely so happy. They often miss the mark and are still talking about issues from the 80s. Anyone who thinks OC is a bad location is seriously out of their depth. The beaches there are beyond world class, the quality of life is very high, and the diversity is beautiful as people sought communities beyond LA. Id rather be in Irvine than Charlottesville- that’s for damn sure
