My kids don't attend GDS, but we are there frequently for weekend sports. What is the deal with the trans/lgbtq/blm flags every where you look? What's the point?
Who gives a f*ck? The issue here is that the school admin is poorly functioning and non-transparent. What flags they fly are irrelevant. Feel free to do Johnny’s travel soccer elsewhere.
Well, as an actual parent of the school, I sometimes give a f*ck. It's a reminder of where the DEI department invests their time and resources. It's a visual reminder that blm and lgbtqia+ concerns are the programming priority at GDS. I wish that they would add other flags for other groups (promoting anti-islamophobia, anti-semitism, for instance) or take those two flags down. As PPs have pointed out, there is no appetite for diverse thinking and creating a safe DEI space (literally and figuratively) for students outside of these two groups represented by the flags.
