https://www.cato.org/blog/new-data-show-migrants-were-more-likely-be-released-trump-biden According to new data published last month, the Biden Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed a higher percentage of arrested border crossers in its first two years than the Trump DHS did over its last two years. Moreover, migrants were more likely to be released after a border arrest under President Trump than under President Biden.
Lol. Releases over two year period: Trump (51% of encounters) •712,930 (by Jan-2021) Biden (49% of encounters) •2,440,145 Most blatant example of “spin” I’ve seen in a long time. Trying to use a 2% difference to say Biden was more likely to expel migrants. Even though absolute numbers are obscenely different.
lol. It puts the lie to the claim that Biden isn’t enforcing immigration laws and trump did.
Trump didn’t abuse parole, and he made every effort available to restrict immigration and close the border via executive orders. Biden undid those executive orders and broadcast his deportation moratorium to the world. Perception trip to the border will be worth it=more migrants try Perception it will be a waste of time=less migrants. Biden broadcast the former and so numbers exploded. And he hasn’t actually tried to issue any policies or EOs to stem the tide.
BS he fought to keep Title 42 in place and the courts rescinded it.
Lol, the executive order that Democrats spent the entirety of the time Trump was in office being pissed off about?.. if Biden had been in office when covid started (or any Democrat) title 42 would have never even been implemented. And no, actually the courts blocked Biden from ending it sooner This id what’s frustrating about people on the left suddenly trying to claim and argue about how Democrats aren’t actually EXTREMELY soft on immigration. They only stsrted caring about it recently and so, unlike the rest of us who have been constantly advocating for more restrictive policies and thus know which particular politicians are actually hawkish on the border—they know nothing. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/05/20/title-42-border-judge-ruling-migrants/
This is a not typical immigration. Trump went on a stupid bender, illegally separating families, banning Muslims, etc. Biden ran as not being Trump. Unfortunately for him, we are in the middle of a global migration crisis, and those words are coming back to bite him. Congress still needs to fix this. I’m tired of new immigration policy every time a new president is elected. This is Congress’ job. They need to be pushed to do it.
the global migration crisis is tied to two things 1) climate change and inhospitalble conditions in certain parts of the world 2) political upheaval/war in certain parts of the world mostly tied to Russia aggression and manipulation: central America, middle east and Ukraine So, if you want to address the migration crisis, you have to take steps to deal with climate change and you have to take steps to deal with Russia. The GOP has nothing on this issue as they have no solutions for 1 (and in fact deny it) and embrace 2.
Because the GOP’s current existence hinges on Russia. You know that, I know, I’m highlighting it for the GOP readers.
That's because Russia is a totalitarian state that can extract wealth from its people and deliver it to foreigners over whom they want influence. Another reason Trump likes authoritarians - they can more easily rob their people and give the money to him.
