This is wild. I walk around Rock Creek Park, Dupont, Adams Morgan, Woodley, Cleveland Park, Cathedral Heights, Mount Pleasant, Columbia Heights, and Forest Hills frequently as well as around L'Enfant Plaza during and after work. I feel just as safe as I did five years ago.  I even walked to Union Station last week to see what all the fearmongering was about. Again, it feels just the same as it did five and even ten years ago. [/quote]

Right, but the baseline was (and is still) so low, that a 100% increase in the risk of being victimized by crime doesn't actually move the needle all that much. I live in Northeast - probably not too far away from where PP walked around Union Station - and I completely agree that crime is trending in the wrong direction, but it's not productive to pretend that DC is a wasteland hellscape where everybody walking around eventually gets mugged on a regular basis like being called for jury duty.

The people proudly posting how terrified they are of everything should be embarrassed by their complete lack of critical thinking skills.

It's as ignorant as posting "I bought TWO Powerball tickets, now my chances of winning the jackpot have increased 100%!" We'd rightfully shame someone who said that for being financially illiterate yet someone who does the same thing for crime gets a dozen morons nodding along with them.[/quote]
