Sure, he has a prenup that his lawyers will make sure is enforced. But after 18 yrs of marriage, I suppose the question is of decency, currently he is coming across as a really mean and nasty person.
It’s sounds decent to the large majority. There is a slim faction of people who think divorce is like the lottery and you win a big sum of money through divorce and that is a disordered way of thinking.
NP, after 18 years of marriage, he is behaving like a vindictive and immature jerk!
How is he being vindictive and immature? They signed a contract that laid out the terms if the marriage ended. The wife filed for divorce so the contract now goes into effect.
The contract was signed many decades - and a bunch of kids - ago. A lifetime ago, basically. It seems petty, mean, and weird for him to be stingy like this - and yes, it looks very stingy - toward the mother of his children, who spent decades with him. Who shared a life with him! You seem to believe your position is very popular but I don't actually see anyone else on this thread sharing it, which maybe says it's not so popular. No she doesn't have to come out with $200 million - but $1 million? Our house is worth almost that and we live in a ranch that needs work, on a busy street, in a mid-tier city. It just seems mean, small, and petty. Regardless of the prenup - which I am guessing will be adjusted by the court, if they don't settle - she should at least be able to buy a decent house where she and the kids can live. And to maintain the house. You know, to live a life that is fairly comparable to the one she had when she was married to this cheater for a few decades.
18 years ago is not a lifetime ago. 18 years goes by quick. Please stop acting like she's being treated cruelly and put out on skid row. She's going to be a multi-millionaire with six figures a month in child support WHILE HE PAY FOR ALL OF THE KIDS' EXPENSES. Sorry she can't peel off $50 million bucks from the ex. Boo hoo.
